What You Can Do

Turning the web black is a simple process and will show your support for both information technologies that have a green emphasis in addition to supporting an NGO in Mpumalanga, South Africa that is working to provide a haven of hope for all those infected and affected by HIV/AIDs.

Three levels of participation:

Level 1 - Create Awareness

If you have a website, blog or web presence and want to display the "Turn the Web Black" ribbon, but are unable to change the background color of your website, you can follow the below directions to do your part in spreading awareness. Thanks!

Simply cut and past this code just before the tag in your template and the page will display "Turn the Web Black" ribbon. Refer to the homepage of www.TurnTheWebBlack.org to see the design of the ribbon.

The top right HTML code [?]

<div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px; width: 120px; height: 120px; z-index: 20;"><a href="http://www.turnthewebblack.org" title="I Support Turn The Web Black"><img src="http://www.turnthewebblack.org/img/banner-tr.gif" title="I Support Turn The Web Black" border="0" /></a></div>

The display ribbons are nice and unobtrusive. The reason for pasting the code right near the end of your template / page is to prevent any delay in page loading. The "Turn the Web Black" ribbon will sit over the top of any content without destroying layout of your site. The "Turn the Web Black" ribbon graphic is hosted on the www.turnthewebblack.org server.

Level 2 - Go Black

If you have a website, blog, or web presence and want to change the background to a darker color and display the "Turn the Web Black" ribbon, please refer to the instructions below on inserting the HTML code on your website. You are saving electricity to all visitors with CRT monitors and helping to create awareness - Thanks!

Level 3 - Donate

Turn The Web Black is a philanthropic project spearheaded by the South African NGO Thembalethu. In addition to helping decrease the negative effects technology can have on the environment by becoming a project participant, you or your company can help support a good cause by donating to Thembalethu.

Thembalethu relies on the generosity of compassionate individuals like you to help care for those in need. With nearly 8,500 people dying everyday and another child orphaned every 15 seconds, your support is urgently needed.

You'll also have the opportunity to be recognized on www.TurnTheWebBlack.org as a donor of Thembalethu Home Based Care

Each donation goes 100% to Thembalethu Home Based Care.
